How to Calculate Tea Cost per Cup for a Beverage Shop
Tea cost per cup links dry-tea price, dosage, usable filtered yield and tea-soup weight per drink. Price per kilogram alone is not enough.
The basic formula
Batch tea cost = dry tea used (kg) × tea price per kg
Cups per batch = usable filtered tea soup (g) / tea soup per cup (g)
Tea cost per cup = batch tea cost / cups per batch
Illustration
At 50g dry tea, USD 20/kg, 1000g usable tea soup and 200g tea soup per drink, batch cost is USD 1.00, five cups are produced and dry-tea cost is USD 0.20 per cup.
Use filtered yield
Leaves retain water and filters create loss. Weigh usable tea soup and record end-of-window waste rather than using starting water in the model.
