How to Choose an Oolong Tea Base for Modern Tea Beverages
Choose by finished-drink role: aroma lift, dairy body, roast depth, fruit compatibility, lemon clarity and cold-brew smoothness.
Do not start with the tea name only
Modern tea beverage buyers need a tea that survives milk, sugar, fruit, ice and time. A famous tea name is useful, but the finished cup decides whether the base can become a commercial drink.
Match the base to the menu role
| Menu role | Best starting direction | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh light milk tea | TG-01 Light-Aroma Tieguanyin | Floral lift and clean finish keep the cup bright. |
| Classic milk tea | TG-02 Rich-Aroma Tieguanyin | Rounded body holds better with milk and syrup. |
| Roasted milk or cheese tea | TG-04 Charcoal-Roasted Tieguanyin | Deep roast gives structure against dairy and foam. |
| Fruit tea and cold brew | BQ-01 Baiya Qilan | Floral, mellow aroma supports fruit without becoming heavy. |
Use a two-base comparison
For a first evaluation, compare one fresh/floral base with one richer/roasted base. This creates a clear difference for shop owners and prevents the sample test from becoming vague.
Decision checklist
- Does aroma remain after milk or fruit is added?
- Does the tea body feel thin, balanced or rough?
- Does the drink stay acceptable after 15 and 30 minutes?
- Can a beginner follow the recipe and repeat the result?
- Does the cost per cup fit the target selling price?
