How to Turn a 500g Oolong Sample Into Sellable Drinks
Treat the sample as a mini development project: reserve tea for screening, optimization, repeat confirmation and sales photos.
Split the 500g sample before testing
Use the sample deliberately: 100g for brew calibration, 180g for recipe screening, 120g for optimization and 100g for final repeat plus photos. This prevents the whole sample being consumed before a decision is made.
Build four starter drinks
| Drink | Starting formula | Commercial purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Light milk tea | 180g tea concentrate + 120g fresh milk + 15g syrup + ice to 500ml | Shows clean aroma and easy daily drinking. |
| Classic milk tea | 160g tea concentrate + 80g milk + 35g non-dairy creamer + 20g syrup + ice | Tests body and milk compatibility. |
| Fruit tea | 180g tea concentrate + 45g fruit puree + 15g syrup + 120g water + ice | Tests aroma with fruit acidity and sweetness. |
| Cold brew | 10g dry tea + 500g cold water, refrigerated 6-8 hours | Tests smoothness and ready-to-serve simplicity. |
Photograph the result
Take one top-view ingredient photo, one finished drink photo and one menu-style hero photo for each formula. A buyer should see how the tea becomes a real product, not only a sample bag.
Record the business result
- Which formula was easiest for staff?
- Which formula looked best in photos?
- Which formula had the best aroma after 30 minutes?
- Which formula had the best cost-to-selling-price ratio?
- Which one should become the first menu item?
